Hi, race fans! It’s been awhile since I posted, so it’s time to get everyone caught up with what is happening at Team INS racing. Since the last post, we’ve made a couple of appearances and a few trips to the race track.
For the record, July is a month I’m happy to have behind me! The heat was oppressive and the humidity was no different. When you head out the door at 5 a.m. and the temperature is in the 80’s, it is going to be a rough day. One of our trips in July was to Hawkeye, Iowa, on Saturday, July 30th, for an open house. I loaded up the trailer the night before. It had been sitting out in the sun for several days. Let me tell you, when I opened it up, it was like an oven. I could hardly stand being in there for more than a couple of minutes at a time. However, I finished loading just in time for the cool front to go through. What a relief that was for the evening! I actually got to sleep without the humming of the window unit.
I left for Hawkeye around 7:30 a.m. since our appearance began at 10 a.m. The day was somewhat cooler, which made for a pleasant drive. We arrived on time, found our parking place and unloaded the INS Dragster. Our setup was probably one of the easiest I have had, since all we had to do was open the back door, roll the car out and call it good! It even included parking directly under a shade tree!
Four hours flew by as I talked to a lot of people and signed lots of autographs. The neat thing about it was that many of the pictures that I signed were for adults. I was thanked on several occasions for bringing the INS Dragster to Hawkeye, answered lots of questions and had a great time. I loaded up the INS Dragster, grabbed a bite to eat and headed home around 2:15 p.m. I would like to end by saying thanks to Jeff Rhode for his hospitality and great planning on the location and to the INS representative, Joe Craig, for sticking around for the day and helping to answer questions. I think everyone enjoyed the day! Stay tuned!
