2010 Finale

We were making our final appearance for the 2010 season by attending the “Fall Festival” in the lovely community known as Keosauqua. What a beautiful day it is going to be. Lots of sunshine, temperatures in the 80’s, not a cloud in the sky, perfect.

I left around 7 a.m, arriving around 9:30. I found a place to park, and was soon ready to unload with the help of Tim and Kevin. Tim Earp is an INS Representative and Kevin Hranicka is the General Manager of the Van Buren Telephone Co. The INS dragster was placed on main street for display purposes, located right in the middle of the car show for everyone to see. We spoke to people of all ages. Many were just out wondering around looking at all the vintage cars, bikes, and trucks and most of all they were enjoying the weather.

I was here in 2009, and lets just say there was a significant difference in the weather, number of classic cars, and of course the people! In 2009 we were all looking for hooded sweatshirts, or gloves, anything just to keep warm. Not this year. We even had the pop up tent covering the car and ourselves. A very special thanks again to Tim and Kevin who hung out with me all day, answering questions and and socializing. The car show was a hit this year and for the most part was over at 3 pm. Prizes in categories were given to the contestants, and yes the INS dragster won 1st place in the “Compact Car” category. Figure that one out!!

At approximately 4 pm the INS dragster was loaded, I said my farewell to Tim and Kevin and headed for home. I assumed I would arrive at home around 6:15 but had no idea that roughly 15 miles into my return I was going to have a small delay. Well folks, the ugly “2010 season” reared its head one more time as I had a blow out on my trailer. The good news is that it was the center tire so it did not destroy the fender and the damage was contained to just the tire. I limped along for several miles until I found a field entrance that I could pull into an proceeded to change the tire. All my trailer tires were brand new three years ago to prevent these kind of things from happening on the road. I was soon back on the road arriving a little later, but safe. I unloaded the car, dropped off the trailer and said “WOW.” It just keeps happening.

Oh yes there is one more thing! I just completed this article for the second time as we had a massive power outage and I lost it the first time. Anyway, to everyone, thanks for reading, and stay safe.
