We have all our parts!! I now have plenty to do and then some. We completed putting the old INS dragster together last Sunday, and it should be ready to go back to the track soon under new ownership. It was like watching a long time freind leave when we loaded the car Sunday evening. I was in attendance at the Duck Derby on Saturday and other than my 45 minute tour of West Des Moines had a very good time. Lets just say INS received some extra exposure and leave it at that, OK?
I picked up the panels from Steve Waln at Waln Repair and the motor from Sperry Engines in the afternoon last Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday I spent eight to nine hours working on the car. The carbon fiber wing came Friday afternoon and is ready to install. As of today we are very close to at least starting the car. We need a couple more mechanical hook ups assembled, a little electrical and we should be ready to fire. One has no idea how long all these things take, but I am certainly finding out. Right now we are hoping to be up and ready for the next race which is May 15 and 16. Looks like we will have to do our testing on race day. Not ideal for a new car, but the so called “Lid Lifter” (that’s my baseball lingo talking) has to happen some time.
