Every time I go to post I keep hoping I will have great news to report and be able to say that the Team INS Dragster is ready to go. Unfortunately, if I did, that would be a blatant misuse of the word “ready”. We received confirmation from the manufacturer that our parts were being shipped last Friday and that we would receive them on Tuesday. Fairly close, as they arrived on Wednesday, and only one of the two were there.
Now for those of you that are kind of familiar with motors will know that it’s very difficult to build a motor without a crankshaft or rods. It seems that many of the internal motor parts are presently becoming difficult to get. The manufacturer’s response of course is “we will take your name, number, order, put you on the list and get to you when we can.” It seems that due to the slow economic conditions and the fact that some companies disappeared, many of the suppliers did not stock their shelves during slow times and are now trying to keep up with the demand. What can a sportsman racer do but WAIT!!!
I always place my orders around the first of February and, for the most part, have always received them on time. Not this year. We also have not received our body panels, which are still at the paint shop. I am sure Steve Waln, owner of Waln Repair, is working very hard to get the panels to me as quick as he can. We certainly appreciate his efforts and everything he has done for Team INS Racing. WOW, are we cutting things close. I am still confident that we can make the first race of the season, but I am fairly certain that it will take place without any testing. Oh well, “it is what it is”. Not sure who quoted that but it sounds appropriate at this time. We will continue our efforts to get ready in time, but for now we will load up tonight and head to the race track for chassis inspection, unfortunately without a motor. Have a great day and a safe weekend.
