Old Friend, New Home

In my last post, I mentioned that the old car was sold but never took the time to mention anything about the new owners. It is a family race team from the Des Moines area. Ken (dad) and Cory (driver) will be racing the dragster at Earlville in the Pro Class. Cory raced in the high school class and has been racing a Camero in the Pro Class for the last couple of years. I wanted to mention this because I think this is so neat to have a father/son team, plus the wife, involved in racing. They are great people, and if it wasn’t for drag racing I never would have met them. It is a pleasure to be able to help them out, whether it’s helping put the car together, or just giving them some advice. They will do very well. And guess what!! The car is only two stalls away at the track. I haven’t decided whether that is a good or bad thing, but I know it has a great home. Fortunately he won’t be able to beat me, mainly because he will be in a different class. (Sigh of relief.)

Well, the new INS dragster is back at home and we have started to install as many items as possible. We are still waiting on the crankshaft and rods, and Scott a Sperry Engines told me today that they are being shipped this week. Shipped on Monday would be better than shipped on Friday. Once they receive the last of the pieces it will take two to three days to assemble, then a day on the dyno and if all goes well, be ready to place between the frame rails of the new INS dragster. I actually get excited when I think about it, but only for a few seconds because then I realize how much work I have to get done and what little time I will have to do it in. We will keep at it, as April 17 is just not that far away. Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather. We deserve it!!
