Several months, along with the holidays, have passed since I last wrote, so I felt it was time to give everyone an update as to what was going on at Team INS Racing. I hope everyone was as fortunate as me, to be able to enjoy some valuable family time over the Holidays. As we all realize through the years, family is still number one. During the off season is a golden opportunity for me, “Grandpa”, to see my grandchildren on a regular basis. Who knows, maybe some day we may have a junior dragster in the “DK Racing” stables.
In an October blog I had reported on our trip to Arkansas and made the statement I would keep everyone posted. Well, I didn’t do the best job of that so here we go. It has obviously taken longer than eight weeks for delivery of this new car. Some delays were my fault, some the manufacturers, and some the chassis builder. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention “Mother Nature”. It seems the racing industry, especially suppliers, take an extended holiday vacation which of course means delays in shipping. All in all things have seemed to go fairly well, of course I have yet to see the finish product. There’s nothing like spending money and then wondering what things are going to look like when completed.
I have included a few pictures that the chassis builder was kind enough to forward to me so you can get a little idea of the intricate parts of the car. The dash components are what amaze me the most. If you look at the dash on the old car and compare to the new, it is significantly more user friendly on the new car. No more looking for sweeping arrows on small gauges. Now there’s a digital readout all in one easy-to-read component. Picking out chassis colors and interior colors is very difficult, but what component you want is way more overwhelming when it comes to the style, type, manufacturer, and exactly where you want this item mounted when you are 600 miles from the builder. That is the nice thing about having a reputable builder. They do this every day for a living and can tell you exactly where these things need to be placed. (I HOPE). Well, that kind of gives you some idea of what has been happening the last few months, just waiting for warmer weather (aren’t we all) and this week’s arrival of my new chassis. Stay tuned as we will have a few more pictures and more information on the new car in the days ahead.
