With the INS dragster still loaded from our trip to Topeka, it was time to make an appearance in Cascade, IA at the local telephone company, namely Cascade Communications. I wish to thank Dave Gibson and his crew for all their patience and physical help loading and unloading. I would’ve bet that we were going to get rained out but it turned out to be a beautiful evening. I was very impressed with their facility and of course, as usual, their friendly smiles and just plain being nice people.
I wasn’t sure this was going to be fun (only because I was still very tired from a long weekend) but it was an easy drive, fairly close, and I was fortunate to visit with a lot of people. Due to the fact there seemed to be a lot of interest in the car, the time disappeared quickly. My appearance was from 4 to 6:30pm and I can say I was talking/visiting non-stop. What surprised me was that two individuals stopped by just to visit, see the car, and didn’t even get themselves something to eat. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening.
