Track Champion

What a difference a day makes. The front finally came through and cooled things down significantly. It appears the weather for today will be appreciated by both the racer and the spectator. The car count for today seems to be much better than yesterday, as cooler weather brought out several racers that chose to stay home yesterday. With better oxygen levels today, the INS dragster will certainly record some better times. We ran a 7.80 in the first time run, a 7.76 in the second time run, and a 7.78 in the third.

Now it’s race time and time to decide what dial in time to choose. We chose a 7.80 thinking the track would slow a couple .002 after lunch and headed for the staging lanes. In the staging lanes, the track official randomly picks out your competition. For the first round we drew none other than the track champion, a very difficult car/driver to beat. As a racer, you would much rather race this individual in later rounds than the first round. His car being a faster car dialed a 7.62, the INS dragster a 7.80. When it was all said and done, my competitor had a .014 reaction time to my .028, ran dead on his dial of 7.62, and put us on the trailer as we broke out with a 7.76 on the 7.80 dial. End of day and time to head home. Oh well, at least we have nice weather.
