What can I say about this day except HOT! HOT! HOT! By 1:30 the weather station hanging in the trailer was showing 94.5 degrees IN THE SHADE!!! Yikes!! Lets not even discuss the humidity.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad day for the INS dragster. We had three practice runs that, of course, due to the lack of oxygen in the air and water, were slower times than normal. The first round was about as close as you can get and this time we won. We had a .014 reaction time compared to the opponents .032. We ran .004 below our dial (7.89 on a 7.85 dial) and still won. We definitely needed the advantage at the starting line because my opponent was only .002 off his dial (7.87 on a 7.85 dial). A margin of victory - .021 - very close.
The second round competition was a friend of mine who, needless to say, strapped a hole shot on me. Of course the end result was a second round loss so I headed for the trailer. As much as I hate to tell anyone this, I wasn’t sure if I should be happy I lost because of the stiffling heat or sad because I was done for the day. Either way we get to race tomorrow, hopefully under better conditions.
